Airfare to Kauai is easy to book using the Internet. But how do you find a good price? 

American Airlines and United Air Lines fly directly from the mainland into Lihue, the main city on Kauai. This is typically the best way to get to Kauai, rather than flying to Oahu first. It's quicker and probably cheaper.

But be sure to look into Aloha Airlines and Hawaiian Airlines, which may offer deals. In addition, large travel sites like Expedia will give you a deal if you book air, hotel, and car through them all at the same time. There is plenty of information at TripAdvisor.com too.

Beware of bringing fresh fruit or vegetables with you! The agricultural inspectors don't want any nonlocal pests to hitch a ride somehow.  And if you buy pineapples or other produce on Kauai to bring home, they will have to pass inspection too.
